Community Outreach

Mind Over Matter (M.O.M.), a 501(c)(3) was created to honor the spirit of Kathleen Fisher, who taught her children and those around her to live life to its fullest. Kathleen’s motto: work hard, play harder! Inspired by Kathleen, M.O.M. was formed centered around a mission of encouraging personal wellness and community betterment. Our goal is to enable people to help others while helping themselves.

Our largest outreach campaign is the M.O.M. Summer Camperships, which are awarded in the spring to help aid in summertime exploration and learning. This gift, much like our other scholarships, is geared towards those that need financial assistance to enable a child to participate. Please keep this in mind when applying.

M.O.M. awards three National Scholarships annually in the fall and spring. Helping students reach their educational goals by easing the financial burden is just one of the ways M.O.M. gives back. M.O.M. also wants to remind students to live life to their fullest, so the essays selected annually reflect just that. Any student enrolled in college or technical school (any year in school) is eligible to win.

We also award the Kathleen Fisher Memorial Scholarship annually to a student from Menomonie High School, in Menomonie, WI.

M.O.M. also has given holiday gifts & clothing for winter weather for families in need as well as  life scholarships, fitness scholarships in the form of gym memberships, and art workshops for children living with less, among other needs-based gifts.

Occasionally we receive nominations and requests, which the M.O.M. board reviews. If you know of a deserving individual or cause, please email us. See our News page for more examples of M.O.M.’s giving throughout the years.
